Responsibilities

About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team in Budapest. In this role, you will primarily support the payroll processes for our German branch, collaborating closely with the HR team and external partners. While a deep understanding of German labour law and payroll processes is a plus, it is not required. What is essential is that you have a strong knowledge of payroll in general and are eager to learn the specifics of the German payroll system.

Although you’ll be based in Hungary, this role focuses entirely on Germany – you won’t be involved in Hungarian payroll. However, you will work in our Budapest office, where Hungarian is the primary language, and you will need German to communicate with the team abroad and English for internal communication.

Key Responsibilities:

- Support the payroll processes for German employees, ensuring accuracy and timely execution in collaboration with the HR team.
- Learn and stay updated on German payroll regulations and integrate them into your daily work.
- Collaborate with the external payroll partner to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate regularly with the German team to resolve payroll-related inquiries.
- Maintain and update payroll records with precision and confidentiality.
- Proactively identify areas for improvement in payroll processes and contribute to optimization efforts.

Requirements

- Strong knowledge of payroll processes – previous experience is a must, ideally in an international setting.
- Proficiency in German (written and spoken) to communicate with the German team and stakeholders. English skills for internal communication. Fluent Hungarian, as it’s the primary language in our Budapest office.
- Openness and motivation to learn the German payroll system and regulations.
- Relevant studies and 4+ years’ experience
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- A proactive and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to learn and adapt quickly.

Nice-to-have

- Basic understanding or experience with German labour law and payroll regulations.
- Experience working with external payroll partners.

What we offer

- A hybrid work model with 8 home office days per month (2 days/week).
- A dynamic workplace in Budapest, while contributing to the operations of our German branch.
- Competitive salary and benefits (e.g. cafeteria, 13th month salary, pension fund).
- Opportunities for professional growth and learning, particularly in the area of German payroll.
